Shots On Goal - Oilers 20 Coyotes 42

Game Notes:
- Another game, another loss, another meh. Watching the Oilers lately is like watching re-runs of Coronation Street. You might be attentive for five minutes but after that who cares? The Oilers are bringing knives to gun fights these days. They were outmuscled and didn't have enough patience to see the game through. Once again, I didn't notice Gagner, Hemsky had some looks but ultimately ineffective, Peckham was terrible tonight and Dubnyk broke like a dam taking on too much water. There is a spot in here for Magnus Paajarvi to come in and play well with a lot of passengers in a game like tonight. The 4th line was pretty ineffective as well tonight. Not a lot of hits or pressure from them. For a team that had 4 days to prepare for this game, they sure didn't look prepared. Tom Renney looks frusterated, like a man thats about to do something desperate. Perhaps Sam Gagner or Ales Hemsky in the pressbox? I doubt it, but something will need to happen. I do believe there is a philosophical difference between head coach Tom Renney and Steve Tambellini, which explins the mismatched forward lineup they keep trying to ice. Its tough to watch this team, the have nice individual skilled players but terrible team dynamics.

Player of the Game:
- Taylor Hall. Hall came back into the lineup and looked to have no rust in his game. Scored the only 2 markers the Oilers would get in this game. Everyone seems to think Hall and Hemsky would have instant chemistry. I don't think so, especially when both want to make plays with the puck. There is only one puck on the ice and they are both trying to play better off the puck but that's not a strength of either player. At any rate, Hall had a strong game and a welcome addition to the lineup.

Goat of the Game:
- Theo Peckham. Ugly night for Peckham, battled hard but has to use his noodle more. As a left handed defenseman, found him too often on the right hand side of the ice. He was a part of the problem of everyone running around covering everyone else's man. If Peckham stays on his side of the ice, he'll be better off for it. The Oilers positional play has gone to junk over the last few games. They have to find some trust in their game again.

Next Game - Saturday December 18, 2011 vs. Sharks @ San Jose on CBC 8 PM MT.
