Shots On Goal - Oilers 21 Panthers 27

Game Notes:
- Oilers continue to play good, fundamental hockey. Game was played at a good pace but they didn't get baited into playing back and forth hockey. All of that eventually brought the game to a shootout and this time, a victory. The game was pretty much a stalemate, very few errors throughout the whole game, good defensive positioning, solid goaltending on both sides, it was a fun game to watch from a coaches viewpoint. Its funny how when one of the Oilers offensive guns is out of the lineup, the team seems to have better balance and can hang around in a lot of hockey games. The Oilers seem more dedicated to playing defense and then parlaying that into offense, which is a style they have to play in order to be success. Run and gun died with the '80s. If you don't take care of your own end, you don't win. The Oilers are starting to mature as a team and its just not the kids, but the vets and coaching staff seem to be coming around. 5 out of 6 points on the road trip thus far. There are playing good hockey on this trip so far and look to finish the season on a high note.

Player of the Game:
- Devan Dubnyk. Dubnyk played well again, to the point where I say give him another year. Not necessarily the starters gig, but to compete with someone for the starters gig. I think the Oilers should find a way to get out of Khabibulin's contract by either waving him, or telling him to go play in Europe or something to that effect. Have Dubnyk and Goalie X that isn't at the end of his career, battle it out next year for goalie supremacy. The Oilers need to start looking at the horizon and start looking to winning games immediately and into the future. This includes the goaltending. Dubnyk gave up one goal that kinda of smelled of fromage but it was only one and he was rock solid the rest of the way including the shootout.

Goat of the Game:
- Linus Omark. Tough to give the GOTG to anyone tonight since the Oilers team game was outstanding. Omark had zeroes across the board and it was his man (Garrison) that Omark lost on Florida's only goal of the game. Omark has played well in his recent callup, playing a pesky game thats giving the othe teams defenders fits. Sounds like Omark and the Oilers are going to end their relationship in the summer.

Next Game - Sunday March 25, 2012 vs. BlueJackets @ Columbus on Sportsnet West 1 PM MT.
