Shots On Goal - Oilers 33 Ducks 28

Game Notes:
- This game stunk. The whole team stunk, right from Daryl Katz all the way down to Joey Moss. I'm getting tired of watching this lifeless hockey. Nobody wanted to skate, nobody wanted to pay the price, way too many passengers. What can anyone do? Its terribly frusterating watching the losses pile up. Today's loss wasn't blamed on poor lines or lack of experience on D, it was a genuine disinterest to play the game tonight from anyone in an Oiler uniform. This is the most alarming loss of the season. It's the type of loss that gets people fired or traded. Now I'm sure nothing will happen on that front, but on a normal team, something would happen on that front. Ducks won every period, won the majority of the battles and the Oilers couldn't get out of their own way. Many pucks went in on the Oilers tonight off off shinpads, sticks or whatever other limbs could get in the way. There wasn't much karma in this game tonight for the Oilers, but offered little resistance against it. Ducks played hard, but I didn't think they played particalarly well. Hiller was a wall tonight, but the Ducks shots went in and the Oilers did not. Like I said in a previous post, welcome to the dog days of summer.

Player of the Game:
- Magnus Paajarvi. The only player that wanted to skate tonight. He was the freshest Oiler in a crater full of dregs the Oilers dressed tonight. It's a cheap POTG for Paajarvi, but there is no one else that I could give it to. There are 20 players I could give the GOTG to.

Goat of the Game:
- Nikolai Khabibulin. Wasn't sharp tonight at all. A couple of squeakers beat him early and he got pulled half way through the 2nd period. It was a snowball effect tonight. Defense was terrible at moving the puck tonight, goaltending couldn't make a save, forwards couldn't buy a goal and collectively, the entire Oilers' team quit on the game. A formula that has been very apparent of the last few years of the Oilers rebuild. A formula that needs to be burned and forgotten.

Next Game - Sunday January 15, 2012 vs. Kings @ Rexall Place on Sportsnet West. 6 PM MT.
