Shots On Goal - Oilers 23 Flames 23

Game Notes:
- Another game, another pathetic effort. Nothing left to do but throw your hands up in the air and wait for something to happen. Shabby goaltending, shabby coaching, shabby management, shabby play from vets, very little effort, very little chemistry, well has gone real dry on the offense, there is so much to clean up. As an Oiler fan and observer, just when you think rock bottom has hit, you soon realize there is further down left to go. I don't think Calgary played all that well, the Oilers played even worse, just a pathetic, inexcusable performance. It's no time to be positive, its time for people to lose their minds, decisions to be made and then collect yourselves and then move forward. This team has been far too passive for far too long, someone needs to break the company line and say what needs to be said. A lot of pressure on a 19 year old kid, but its Taylor Hall's team now, and everyone getting mailed Oilers' cheques should realize this by now. Next game, I'd hold a ceremonial pre-game festivity, stripping Shawn Horcoff of the captaincy and give it to Taylor Hall. Its his time and his team. Not much to say about the game, the Oilers were down 3-0 after the first and went down without a whimper...again.

Player of the Game:
- Andy Sutton. Boy, this is a tough one, a lot of goats tonight, but I thought Sutton played hard. Chipped in with the first goal of the game for the Oilers. Sutton is the lone pillar of strength of on the backend filled with players that get pushed off the puck too easily. Sutton has pulled his weight this year. He's been suspended twice but he's been physical more often than not. He's starting to become more creative with the puck on a team that doesn't have a lot of that on the backend.

Goat of the Game:
- Nikolai Khabibulin. He was pretty woeful early and put the Oilers behind the 8 ball. As good as he was on Thursday night, he was equally as bad tonight. It's a tell tale sign that Khabibulin's wheels are no longer as strong as they once were. I'm thinking there will be more of a 50/50 goalie split to end the year. To be honest, I'm hoping to see a different goaltender in here period. I have little faith in either Khabibulin or Dubnyk to take the ball and run with it.

Next Game - Monday, January 23, 2012 vs. Sharks @ Rexall Place on TSN 7:30 PM MT.
