Shots On Goal - Oilers 30 Wild 29

Game Notes:
- Tough to be critical of this loss, but at the same time, it feels like the Oilers let a point slip away to a divisional opponent. I commend the Oilers for battling their tails off tonight, but ultimately could not score the third goal that would have mattered. Players played, coaches coached, managers continue to sit idly by. Like somehow Ryan O'Marra is the missing ingrediant for what ails this team. I do wonder if Steve Tambellini and company will throw this team a life preserver and get this team some top 6 bigger body help. It might have been the difference tonight, and it may be the difference in many more games this season. Watching a game like tonight and just shaking my head in shame. The Oilerss are close. When I say close, I mean they are only one maybe two pieces away from being a playoff team, this year, I kid you not. The defense is playing hard and limiting mistakes, Khabibulin has been pretty consistant this year, but the forward lines are missing some umph, especially in the top 6. Minnesota should feel fortunate they walked away with two points, much like the last game they played here. A lot of it has to do with the fact the Oilers are not playing with a full deck, some because of injury, some because of management.

Player of the Game:
- Jordan Eberle. Scored a goal, had an assist, scored in the shootout, did everything but deliver the beer. Eberle and the Nuge have really been having a good run of chemistry, pretty much since the beginning of the year. Right now, these two players have been the best options for an Oiler goal over the last 10 games. Eberle is on a nice scoring run these days.

Goat of the Game:
- Eric Belanger. To play almost 20 minutes and not have a shot on goal is mystifying. I know Belanger is here to win faceoffs and kill penalties and he's doing a wonderful job of that. But if you are playing almost 20 minutes a game, you gotta find a way to contribute offensively. Belanger is stuck in first gear offensively and the only way he's getting out of it is shooting the puck. Disappointed to see zero shots by his name.

Next Game - Friday December 2, 2011 vs. BlueJackets on Sportsnet West 7:30 PM MT
