Oiler Cuts from Friday Sept 23

The Oilers today sent 5 players to Oklahoma City, 2 players to juniors and brought one player aboard and assigned him to OKC.

David LeNeveu G - Got into a half a game at the Joey Moss Cup. Played OK. Was signed to an AHL contract in the summer. Is essentially insurance in case Olivier Roy isn't ready to play in OKC this year.

Cameron Abney RW - Abney got a few looks at the rookie tourney, didn't get much of any with the big club. Abney is an enforcer type that will likely split time in OKC and in Stockton.

Mark Arcobello C - Arcobello is a player that cut his teeth in Stockton last year and ended up getting himself a pro contract. OKC will be looking to a him for some veteran leadership and some occasional scoring.

Johan Motin D - Didn't get a look in with the Oilers and likely won't get much of a look with OKC either. He's so far down the depth chart, they'll have to dial long distance in order to find him. Likely will get some games in Stockton and disappear into the sunset.

Hunter Tremblay LW - Got into the Joey Moss game and the game against Chicago in Saskatoon. Didn't play poorly but didn't stand out either. A project for the OKC staff to try and jump start. Like Arcobello, parlayed his play into a pro contract. He comes from the University of New Brunswick.

Travis Ewanyk C - Had a shoulder injury that kept him out of the rookie tourney as well as training camp. Will go back to the Edmonton Oil Kings where he will continue to ply his trade as a checking line center.

Drew Czerwonka LW - Czerwonka has very much a Kelly Buchburger type game to him. Long on try, but short on hockey sense. He heads back to Kootenay where he should be a solid contributor to that team. Had himself a decent rookie tourney.

Ryan Lowery D - The Oilers added Ryan Lowery to the organization today. He will fight for a gig in OKC to start with, may see some time in Stockton. Had a decent rookie tourney. The Oilers do have a need for waterbug, mobile, puck moving Dmen. But the OKC team is backside deep in right handed shooting Dmen.

RH DMen for OKC
Helmer
Potter
Teubert
Plante
Motin
Fedun
Lowery
Petry (maybe but doubtful)

LH Dmen for OKC
Chorney
Marincin (maybe but likely)

There is a serious imbalance there.
