Rundown:
Hard fought, well contested game. The Oilers fought uphill all night and came up short in the end. Adam Brown played well early in goal, but eventually succombed to the onslaught, the defense did him no favors tonight. The forwards collectively were quiet tonight, not a lot of sustained pressure until the goaltender was pulled at the end. Calgary held the majority of the play and are full marks for the win. Sven Baerschi looked very dangerous all night, scoring a pair. I wonder how Nugent-Hopkins would have faired in a game like this. He either would have been the difference maker the Oilers needed or got swallowed up like the rest of the Oilers did for the majority of the game. His puckhandling might have been able to create some space out there. At any rate, there were lots of passengers tonight and not enough pulling the cart.

Player of the Game:
- I'm going to go with Tyler Pitlick on this one. Scored on a bomb from the slot, had a nice apple on the marincin goal even though it didn't show up on the scoresheet. Did yeoman's work on the defensive end. The Oilers are really going to need his shooting in the future, even moreso than his hitting. Hopefully the center experiment works out because the Oilers are really going to need it. Honorable mentions to Marincin and Lander.

Goat of the Game:
- Anyone on the Oilers defense outside of Marincin. They were brutal tonight and just flat out, not ready for Calgary's forcheck. I'm going to single out Tyler Schmidt for GOTG. He got stripped of the puck on the eventual winner, lost many board battles, and like most of the Dmen tonight, was chasing the puck all over the ice. Vannuieuwenhuizen (chasing the man), Davidson (poor puck protection), Blain (spectator), Musil (someone tell him you don't play man to man on the PK!), they all had their issues tonight.

Next Game: Exhibition Game Tues Sept 20, 2011 vs. Chicago Black Hawks
