Oilers Cuts From Wednesday Sept 21

The Oilers sent 4 more players back to junior today.

Tyler Bunz - Showed very well for himself. Right from the rookie tourney to playing against the pros. Bunz has a Carey Price kinda thing going for him. He mixes positionally sound with athletic reflexes. I look forward to seeing him with Medicine Hat, and hopefully back here in Edmonton as part of Team Canada at the World Junior Tourney.

David Musil - Musil had a pretty non-descript showing. He did OK, nothing too flashy about his game. He going to have to get meaner and tougher or develop an offensive side to his game if he wants to survive and thrive at the next level. I will say he is a physical speciman. He is headed back to the Vancouver Giants.

Jeremie Blain - Much like Musil, a pretty non-descript showing. Didn't show much offensively, didn't show much defensively. This is his year to take his offensive game to another level. He has poise with the puck, but almost to the point where he is playing the game from a recliner. I look for some offensive numbers out of him this year. He is headed back to Acadie-Bathurst of the QMJHL.

Brandon Davidson - I was hoping for more ruggedness and poise from Davidson. Instead, got more chasing of the puck and some sloppy puck distribution. The fact that Marincin is still here and Davidson is not is a sign. Ultimately, I think Marincin will be joining Davidson back in the Dub, in which case the Oilers will have their eyes peeled for another LH Dman, or Marincin surprises and finishes strong and gets that contract to play in the AHL. Either way, I'm a little surprised Davidson is heading back to Regina. I was expecting for him to stick with OKC.
