Game Notes
- The Oilers won a hard fought game, played well by both teams. Chicago had a lot of sustained pressure but the defense played well and never buckled. Smid was feisty, Peckham played tough, Petry did an excellant job managing the game from the backend. Davidson, Potter and Chorney did yeoman's work on the backend as well. Smyth-RNH-Eberle really showed well, its a line that lacks a long range shooter, but one that could thrive off of the cycle. Josh Green had himself a nice game with a couple of tallies. Good on him for having a nice showing after bouncing around the last few years. Dubnyk adn Roy both played well, really buckled down when they needed to to preserve the win. This team had a nice blend of skill and battlers, and it all came together for this win. It will be initeresting to see how they take two teams and make it into one big club and one minor league club. I think some decisions might be made that will be surprising.

Player of the Game:
- I'm going with Ryan Smyth. Smyth's board work really made the Smyth-RNH-Eberle line really tick. His board work opens up the lanes for Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle to roll through the seems looking for an opening. I'm guessing Tom Renney is very intrigued with this line going forward. Smyth had himself a goal and an assist.

Goat of the Game:
- Gilbert Brule. Brule had a decent game. He hustled and read the plays better than I have ever seen him do so. But that pass that setup the first goal for the Hawks was ugly. He essentially gift wrapped it, sending the puck in front of the net where only a Blackhawk player was standing. Tom Renney must have been doing a "facepalm" on that play.

Next Game - Oilers vs. Canucks 7 PM MT on TSN
